Introduction

Postural imbalances, overuse, and muscle strain in the lumbar spine area commonly cause low back pain.  The lumbar spine is located in your lower back.  It forms the curve below your waist.  Strong ligaments and muscles connect to your spinal column.  They provide back stability and movement.  Lumbar stabilization is a type of chiropractic treatment that can help correct postural instability and relieve pain.

Treatment

Lumbar stabilization involves performing exercises to strengthen the muscles in the lumbar spine.  The goal is to improve the posture of the spine by achieving a neutral position.  The neutral position of the spine is the optimal posture for functioning and comfort.  Not only can lumbar stabilization help reduce pain, but it may also help prevent future injuries.
